RFP: End-of-Life Planning and Care, Spring 2021
For Spring 2021, we invite grant applications from nonprofit organizations in Allegheny County that serve our community in one or more of these ways:
- Directly providing end-of-life care to patients;
- Serving the nonprofessional caregivers of dying patients (by providing resources, mental health support, respite care, etc.);
- Training professional care providers (doctors, nurses, social workers, home health aides, etc.) in end-of-life care
“End-of-life care” may include physical health care, but we encourage applications from organizations that provide more basic patient/caregiver needs like food, shelter, and transportation, and from organizations that support end-of-life emotional and spiritual needs.
Applicants may request up to $50,000 per year. This grant may be renewed for a second year at the discretion of the Foundation.
The majority of our grants will support general operations, but we will also consider one-year, capacity building grants that enable organizations to expand or improve their services.
We strongly prefer to fund community-based organizations. We especially welcome applicants that have experience serving populations traditionally underserved by, or underrepresented in, end-of-life care (e.g., the Black community, low-income neighborhoods, non-native English speakers, etc.).
Applicants must have an annual operating budget under $10,000,000.
LOI deadline: January 15 (for this program area only)
