Welcome, grant applicants!
The McElhattan Foundation accepts applications for grants in our four program areas: Workplace Safety, Education, End-of-Life Planning and Care, and Community Development in Knox & Franklin, PA.
Each program area has its own strategy and requirements. For example, we make Education grants in the Pittsburgh area, but we accept applications for Workplace Safety from anywhere in the U.S. Before you apply, please read through the information we've posted about the program area your application will fall under.
The Fall 2020 Cycle
To state the obvious: the pandemic has impacted us all. Many organizations have had to pivot-- conducting after-school programs via Zoom rather than in person, for example. Others have had project schedules change because of restrictions on gatherings and travel. Some are overwhelmed by a huge increase in need for their services. And many organizations have had to cancel fundraising events, or foresee a decrease in year-end giving from individual donors given the rise in unemployment. We feel we must, as a grantmaker, respond to this.
In the Fall 2020 cycle, we have decided to prioritize applications for general operating funds from organizations with budgets under $10 million. Prior grantees should communicate with their program officer to discuss this, because we may want to continue funding a few particular projects, but in general, this is what we're looking for.
